Cllr Paul Henderson, your County Councillor for Chulmleigh & Landkey, and District Councillor for South Molton, has been busy since being elected in May but wanted to share some of his highlights over the past few months in his new role representing residents at county hall:
Broadband for Umberleigh Primary School
Following a resident raising the issue at the Atherington Parish Council meeting that Umberleigh Primary School had very poor broadband provision, I asked the MP to speak to Openreach and within a few weeks it was confirmed the school would receive fibre broadband. Additionally, this will help the wider community of Umberleigh in their Community Bid for fibre broadband for residents.Chulmleigh Playing Fields Association
Have held meetings with the management committee to identify possible sources of funding to allow them to improve/expand the Pavilion as well as potential funding for a Chulmleigh Men's Shed project.Landkey Traffic Issues
Residents of Landkey as well as the Parish Council have raised many concerns over the increased volume of traffic as work to upgrade the A361 continues.
Following a number of meetings with Highways Officers and with the help of Cabinet Member Andrea Davis, a review of the speed restriction signage (upgrade current signage) is under way and I will be looking to launch a Community Speedwatch scheme in conjunction with the Parish Council.
By working closely with parish councils, our MP Selaine Saxby and fellow councillors, and listening to residents Paul is doing all he can to ensure that the priorities of the residents of Chulmleigh, Landkey and all the villages in between are being addressed.
